Chairmans's January 2010 Report

A good month for a wander around the Park and I took some lovely photos of the winter shrubs and trees in the snow. The weather was bright and crisp The bulbs are starting to reappear and we need to identify those areas where the planting is thin so that we can plant some more later on, any volunteers?

Purchases

The Japanese Maples have arrived and they look Ok. They are weather dependent and this very cold period may have damaged them so we will have to keep an eye on them. I am trying to arrange a planting date for a photo opportunity, diaries please.

I have looked at different types of fencing and the cheapest by far is the chestnut paling. We need to make a decision on this and I will get firm prices.

Discussions with the staff

Martin is ok but fed up with the weather. The work with the Kings students is going well. I do need photos of them working so if Gordon can get some, with photo release statements from them if over 16 but parents or guardians under 16. ( I think)
